Retirement in Fort Collins, Colorado

If you’re trying to decide where you’d like to retire, and you’d like to consider a place that is not too large and yet expanding, attractive and healthy to live in, maybe Fort Collins in the state of Colorado will be just what you are looking for. Located on high plains to the north of Denver, set against the backdrop of the Rocky Mountains, Fort Collins is a college town that is becoming increasingly popular among people of all age groups.

The climate this town enjoys consists of four clear-cut seasons, but the weather is pleasant almost always so that you won’t really feel the need to stay indoors, except maybe occasionally.

Fort Collins was originally intended to be an army station and remained just that until the establishment of the Colorado State University in the1870s. In those days, the University went by the name of Colorado A& M. The town has a population of roughly 100,000 and is halfway between a large city and a small town.

With the diverse range of facilities here, you’ll find Fort Collins an interesting place to retire in. You can take your pick from hiking in the Rocky Mountain National Park to visiting the theatre or the art galleries. If you are really keen on good shopping, dining or theatre, don’t forget that Denver is just 60 miles away and will more than fit the bill.

You can be sure that with such a wide range of activities, you are never likely to get bored here! In fact, you should consider yourself lucky to have found such a place to live out your old age. You don’t always get to make such choices. You really should grab opportunities like this when they pop up.

While Fort Collins is growing, the growth has been controlled so you will not see too many skyscrapers here. That’s hardly surprising, is it? Why would anyone want to shut out the spectacular view of the mountains? This kind of consciousness is an important factor that promises to keep Fort Collins a wonderful place to live for many years to come.
