The first edition of Oxygen, a Manipal Institute of Communication (MIC) special monthly Cultural programme for the session 2019-2020 was held at the college lobby on 30th August 2019.
The cultural talent show for MIC, it is held monthly and is usually themed. Being the first one of the year with only the freshers, the event lacked a theme, but not the high spirits as the the event which begun at 5 pm was filled to its total capacity with a lot of people seated on the floor and standing due to the lack of seats. Being a first year myself, I couldn’t understand what the hype was about, especially since this event was for First years only across the various streams that the college offers.
The Director of the college, Dr Padma Rani along with Professor Kavitha Nagasampike welcomed the Chief Guest of the evening, Mr Satyabodhi Joshi. The event got kicked off after a prayer and a welcoming speech by the faculty members and the Chief Guest.

Whatever transpired during the next 3 hours of the event was way too good to be described in words and I finally understood all the hype around Oxygen. It was indeed a brilliant experience to see such talent, that too only from the first years and with the event happening every month, people are bound to just get better. Even though the event was something which one can only experience, our photographers Ranjith Rajeshawar and Shresta Hebbar put in their all to recap the evening via some wonderful pictures.
