The 15-member Indian squad for the T20 International and the first three ODIs against Australia was announced today by the BCCI selection panel. And as expected, the 2011 World Cup Man of the Tournament, Yuvraj Singh has got a much deserved call-up. With encouraging scores of 40,52 and 61 against West Indies A, and 84 against India Red that helped his team to the Challenger Trophy final, Yuvraj was very well placed to make a comeback to the national side. However, there was no place for discarded seniors like Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Zaheer Khan and Harbhajan Singh.
After getting treated for a rare germ cell Cancer in 2011, Yuvraj had made his first comeback last year against New Zealand at home. But despite occasional knocks in World Cup T20 and Pakistan, he was dropped from the side after the ODI series against England in January earlier this year due to inconsistent performances, and below par fitness. Yuvraj’s last ODI was against England in Dharamsala in January 2013
Swasbuckling southpaw, at 31, has managed to pull off yet another comeback in national side.India will host Australia for seven one day internationals (ODIs) and a solitary T20 International starting from October 10, 2013 to November 2, 2013.
The ODIs will be played at Bangalore, Mohali, Pune, Jaipur, Ranchi, Cuttack, Nagpur while Rajkot will get a chance to host its first ever T20 International.
