Yet another goof up for Congress. And this time its Congress’ very own General Secretary Mr Rahul Gandhi openly criticising the party high command and the cabinet over passing an ordinance that allows the tainted politicians to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in 2014. The statement puts Dr. Manmohan Singh in disarray when he is already in a spot of bother touring U.S.A. where he has an uphill task of convincing the U.S.President Mr. Barack Obama over terrorism and there is a meeting scheduled with Pak P.M. Mr Nawaz Sharif in view of the escalating tension at the LoC.
We can’t really deny an election gimmick by Congress to spice up the mood and project Rahul who simply seemed to have given the stage to Narendra Modi till 2 days ago. Whatever be the plan, the move simply seems to be mistimed as the P.M. is on a very strategically important tour and the government simply couldn’t afford a shift in focus. Amidst all the hue and cry the Congress scion went on record and expressed his displeasure terming the ordinance as “nonsense”
Strategically it is a goof -up and there is no denying that. But it may well prove to be a blessing in disguise for Congress already battling charges for corruption, graft and inflation.
