CANON 1218

1. The Canon 1218 requires 5 AA batteries and two watch batteries for the camera’s exposure meter. Exposure meter batteries will be supplied by Mishkin Productions. AA batteries will be supplied by the “renter”.

2. The film cartridge is placed into the side of the camera. Be sure the camera can expose the film correctly; different cameras have differing abilities to expose some types of film.

3. If using a tripod, remove the handle from the camera, this will allow greater control of camera “head shake”

4. If shooting with lights, slide the filter button to the “light bulb” position. If shooting in sunlight, slide the filter button to the “sun” position. If shooting black & white, leave the filter button in the “sun” position.

5. Film use can be monitored on the side of the camera in feet or meters. When the film reaches the end of its length, the motor will make a distinctly different noise. Insert a new film cartridge.

6. The camera is turned off when the dial switch indicates “.” The camera is turned on in the run position when the dial switch indicates “R” The camera is turned on and in the constantly running position when the dial switch indicates “L”

7. The camera has a manual and automatic exposure control. To activate the manual control, rotate the small dial on the side of the camera clockwise to the desired exposure. To activate the automatic control, rotate the small dial on the side of the camera counter clockwise until you hear a “click” and the small white dot “.” Is aligned with the “M”

8. The diopter setting needs to be adjusted for each person that uses the camera. To set the diopter (eyepiece) focus the camera on a distant object, and adjust the diopter by rotating the ring until the object is in clear focus. On the 1218 the adjusting ring is under the top battery cover.
