Palma – perfect for the family holiday

Palma is the capital of the Balearic Islands and is situated on the island of Majorca – or Mallorca as it can also be spelt. The Balearics are home to one of the prime holiday areas in Europe with their guaranteed sunshine, plentiful food and drink, sweeping beaches and beautiful scenery.  The islands have several mountains, the highest of which, at 4,731 ft, is Puig Mayor. The climate is reasonably mild too and families are made especially welcome.

With such a popular destination it could understandably be quite expensive to get there. But with several airlines offering cheap flights to Palma,  it needn’t be all that expensive.

Your primary reason for visiting Palma would be to relax and that is what most people do. There is a great choice of places to stay, from all inclusive resorts (where everything, including alcoholic drinks are thrown in, meaning you have paid for most of the holiday costs up front) to self catering apartments, hotels, guest houses and villas.  The nightlife is superb too and there is something to cater for every taste from traditional Spanish restaurants to a taste of good British food, with fish and chips being a speciality.  Why come to the seaside and not have fish and chips cooked just the way you like it without the cold, grey skies of Britain?  A top selection of bars and nightclubs will help you party the night away after a hard day’s lazing on the beach, soaking up the sun.

If you are with your family then Palma is the place to go because it is pretty safe, most people speak English and there will always be lots of activities to keep the children amused.  The chances are that you will spend your time on the beach and there will be plenty of organised activities for all the family to enjoy, particularly if you are staying in an all-inclusive resort.
