This is something I wrote in my diaries during my high school days. Do not recollect the reason why i wrote this down. Was probably having difficulty with someone at school. But interesting to know how my thoughts have changed over time!
For most of my life I’ve struggled with myself to find out who I am and what I am. I’ve been labeled many things by people who assume I’m a certain person because ofthe way I dress or the way I talk or the way I act. I used to wonder who I am and what I am and then I realized that I am myself.
No one has done the exact things that I’ve done. No one has said the things I’ve said, or thought the thoughts I’ve thought or lived the life that I’ve lived. It’s what separates me from everybody else. It’s the little idiosyncracies that make everyone unique.
I was discussing this with one of my friends the other day about how we each live our life the way we want to and do the things we want to even though we get criticized for it. My friend, his name is Vinayak, is into a pseudo- satanic club which his older sister does not approve of. He’s a long-haired freak who dresses in black and has a shrine dedicated to Bipasha Basu and plastic skulls hanging on his walls. Were it not for the fact that they rent the place where they live he would probably have painted his living room black.
Everyone I know has their own personal things that they’re into and I’m okay with that. I respect their attitudes and their individuality. It’s like some people are into doing strange things with their stuffed animals and stuff like that and I’m like, whatever they’re into it’s cool. It’s their life and they are free to do whatever they feel like with it.
I do things the way I want to do them and just feel happy with who I am. I am my own person and I like it this way. I don’t want somebody trying to run my life or tell me what to do if it’s not in my best interests. Don’t get me wrong, I respect other people’s boundaries and, sometimes I respect authority, it’s just that I don’t like to live with boundaries myself.
