Location:
Located at Diana circle, Udupi, Thaamboolam is a cozy and ambient restaurant nestled away in pure tradition. In other words a great place to dine with your family and friends. It lies about 5.7 kms and a 11 minute drive from Tiger Circle, Manipal.
Strengths:
Thamboolam Udupi, boasts of a hardcore traditional cuisine which attracts the crème de la crème to dine here. In fact, this outlet is one of Rocky & Mayur’s favorite eateries too.
What we Liked:
The menu has lots to choose from but here are the must orders.
Papad Rolls: filled with chicken or veg, tastes fantastic.
Soya Puddi Sukka: one of a kind dish meant for health freaks.
Koyyal (Cockle Shells) with Genda da Adde: this is a unique type of idly/pancake cooked on coal this combination with oysters was so yum it just leaves you wanting for more.
Nugge (Drumsticks) Pulimunchi: a dish with a twist of its own, some might say it’s too sour but you may love it.
Donne Biryani: Uniquely prepared dry style biryani, goes great with the Mirchi Salan they give.(they have other famous biryanis too like Madike and bucket biryani).
Thatte Idli: definite winner for us, something like you never imagined, super soft and just melts in your mouth. Goes well with almost any curry but we recommend the Spicy Fish Biselle Masala.
