Fêtes des Neiges
Neighborhood: Old Montreal
Fêtes Des Neiges is the ultimate weapon against staying indoors during the wintertime. It takes place over four weekends from January 18th to February 9th in Montreal’s Parc Jean Drapeau. There are over 25 activities, including old favorites and new additions. Highlights include a skating path, snow tubing, horse-drawn sleigh rides, inflatable playgrounds, delicious outdoor food, and so much more. Montrêal en Lumiêre
Neighborhood: Quartier des Spectacles
2019 marks the 20th edition of Montrêal en Lumêre, the world’s largest winter festival. Each year over 900,000 people flock to the Quartier des Spectacles neighborhood which is transformed into a giant celebration of Montreal wintertime. The festival centers around the arts, gastronomy, and awesome outdoor activities. The arts aspect invites performing artists of all kinds, from musical, circus, dance, and theatre. The gastronomy portion invites renowned chefs from all over the world to combine the ultimate food and wine pairings. Winter Fun on Mount Royal
Neighborhood: Plateau-Mont Royal
Visiting Montreal’s famous mountain and focal point is a beloved summer, spring, and fall activity. Some might be wary of going up the hill during the winter, but it’s the best place for good old fashioned snowy fun! Beaver Lake is located atop Mount Royal and becomes a lovely skating rink in the winter. People can rent skates at the Beaver Lake Pavilion, along with snowshoes, cross country skis, and inner tubes. The mountain is filled with scenic ski trails and awesome paths for tubing and tobogganing. Do your kids want to learn cross country skiing? No problem! Igloofest
Neighborhood: Old Montreal
Any fan of electronic music, dancing, or just unique ways to have fun will fall in love with Montreal’s Igloofest. This year marks the 13th edition of the festival, which takes place over 4 weekends from January 16th to February 8th. This winter music festival kicks it up a notch with striking architectural steel. Some of the sets are made entirely of ice, others of industrial metal. Igloofest welcomes some of the world’s most famous international DJs, as well as some local favorites. In addition to the great music, there are other components to explore, like the awesome Igloo Village.
