Mutiny - The Immortal Nightmare

Mutinies, revolutions and the likes arise due to one reason – a horrible(and possibly crazy) leader. And we all know it’s not a pretty sight. Especially if YOU are the horrible, crazy leader.Yes, you are one at times. Stop glaring, and admit it. If you are in denial, allow me to explain and convince you of how terrible a leader you can be.

When I say ‘you’, I am actually referring to everything that you are made of; your genes, cells, microbes, etc.

Don’t look so shocked.You have microscopic pets, my friend. They are called ‘normal flora’, and live on and in you. And they are important for protection against invading microscopic aliens. No matter how many times you take a bath or try to drown them in alcohol, they will still be there. Unless you drink petrol and try to smoke them out of hiding.(No, don’t do that, unless you want a first hand experience of hell)

Consider all of the above mentioned constituents as leaders. All of them exert control over a particular aspect of your body’s functions. If one leader goes batty(mutation, in scientific terms), his employees will seize the opportunity and try to take control.

Genes control cell division and cells themselves regulate cell growth(I will not go into details). If the lunatic leader is a gene regulating cell division, the result would be uncontrolled cell division, which is basically what a TUMOR is.

Add on a few more looney leaders, leading to uncontrolled growth of the dividing cells, and unlimited blood supply, and there you have it; your very own version of ‘The French Revolution’, CANCER.

Certain cancers have an additional ingredient; mutiny or war among the pet microbes. Instead of working together to protect you, they turn into power-thirsty psychopaths and end up killing each other, facilitating a microscopic alien invasion. These aliens ultimately drive the other aforementioned leaders nuts, cooking up a nasty looking(and feeling)cancer.

In other words, tumor or cancer is nothing but a bunch of revolutionary cells. And they are revolting against you. Because you make one loony leader(or are made up of numerous tiny ones).
