As part of our weekly photo contest for our Wordless Wednesdays feature, we presented our Facebook followers with the theme – “Faces”. We loved the response to the same and received about 34 photos of interesting emotions and settings. It was indeed a difficult choice to choose one single best photo, as the collage below shows.
We were not judging the photos for techniques but for the emotions and settings that were captured. The thought involved in the picture and most importantly, was anything new captured.
The theme of this weeks contest was “Faces”. We received some photos that contained abstract concepts, including “3 monkeys”, “masks” and “Caricature Puppets“. We also received a photograph of “The Joker (late Heath Ledger)” from the Batman movie. Though these were beautiful thoughts and original ideas for the contest, we had to disregard them in this contest. We’re sorry guys.
Out of the remaining photographs, we did not chose those that contained faces that were in the background/distance/full body shots. So finally it came down to about 15 photos to chose from.
So the Photo of the week on 13.6.2012 is “Impressionable Innocence by Devasrita Dash”.
As Ralph Waldo Emerson once said ” An eye can threaten like a loaded and levelled gun, or it can insult like hissing or kicking; or, in its altered mood, by beams of kindness, it can make the heart dance for joy…. One of the most wonderful things in nature is a glance of the eye; it transcends speech; it is the bodily symbol of identity.“
This picture captures the very essence of our theme – Faces. The pleading/yearning eyes of this child, the raw emotions with the trail of tears all captured so aesthetically, makes us wish to know the story behind this picture.
Thank you all for participating. Till next week then. Ciao!!
