Central Teachers Eligibility Test (CTET) is the entrance exam conducted by the central board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The test, which is conducted every year, is to evaluate a student’s ability to fit into the teaching job. The CTET result will help the candidate to get into the next process. The minimum eligibility to get into this job is to attend the exam. Once you pass out the exam, you are eligible to get a teaching job in a government school or college.

Scope after CTET certificate
- CTET certificate is the minimum eligibility to get the central government job, which can lead to fair pay as the experience, and position grows.
- Once the candidate receives the certificate, he/she can apply for a teaching job like KVS, NVS Army Teacher, etc.
- Candidates can also apply for the teaching job at private institutes. Some top private institutes only hire candidates with a CTET certificate.
- After getting good experience in teaching, the candidate can take up a higher position job in any school or college.
Details mentioned on the CTET Certificate
Once the student completes the exam, the board provides a CTET certificate for passing candidates. The certificate includes the following information-
- Roll Number
- Category
- Holder’s father and mother name
- Paper 1 and Paper 2 scores
- Holder name
- Exam date
- Result date
- Holder’s passport size photo
The CTET certificate is valid upto 7 years and is applicable in all the CBSE schools, government school, and private institutes. Delhi government has announced to recruit students only with a CTET certificate. Besides, the certificate is accepted in schools falling under the administrative control of Union Territories and Andaman and Nicobar Island.
Every year, more than 20 lacs aspirants appear for the test, but only 10 % qualify for the teaching post.
Promotions of primary teacher
The candidate who successfully passes out the exam is hired as the assistant teacher. After years of experience and quality, they are promoted to the senior teacher, headmaster, senior teacher in upper primary school, and then to the principal.
Promotions of Upper Primary Teacher
The position starts as Assistant Teacher in upper primary school, then raises to the senior teacher, PGT, Senior teacher, and then to the principal in higher secondary school.
The Salary Scope
The salary of the CTET certified teacher starts from Rs 27000/- which includes- Pay Band, Grade Pay, Basic Pay, DA, and HRA. The salary keeps increasing with the experience and the rise in position.
Preparing for CTET exam
As mentioned above, the CTET exam is the toughest one, and the candidate needs to be very well prepared for the exam. The CTET exam dates are released months before, giving enough time for the candidate to prepare for the exam. This will also help in earning a good score in CTET result. To qualify for the exam, it is vital to know the pattern of the exam.
The CTET exam will have 150 questions, which need to be completed within 150 minutes. The question paper consists of objective types, and there are 5 different sections, each having 30 questions. The candidate needs to be strong in maths, science, and social science subjects.
There are two parts
- Paper 1- This includes Child development, environmental studies, maths, and language 1, and language 2.
- Paper 2- Subjects remain the same except Social Studies, which is replaced by environmental studies.
Aspirants appearing for the exam should be mentally prepared to answer questions from these sections.
