Of
a ravaged era of
partition and a
childhood full of
violence
she left her home
in Karachi
and cruised the
waters to reach
the then, Bombay
she lived in camps;
the fair girl who
everyone loved
illiterate, yet so
articulate
grandma you were
surely so unique
aged yet timeless
her skin tells me
of ageless beauty
and her walk
makes me feel grace
both;
beauty and grace,
elegant with your
words
wise words
of times we cried
together and
nights we wished
on stars
i’m sure
if you ever gave
me a chance,
i’d again like to
live it all
