Picture Source – The world I want to live in within 20 years |
I was browsing through a few of the blogs i closely follow regularly. Kok Sen Wai, a student of MMMC, is one of my favorite bloggers, for his extremely unusual style of writing and putting a point across. I have been trying to get him on board Manipalblog.com, it’s been difficult however, as he says it’s difficult for him to maintain his own blog.
The following is an excerpt of his latest blog post and is very much relevant to today’s environmental problems and the apathy of us, the citizens of the world.
“If someone told you there was a way you could save 2.5 million to 3 million lives a year and simultaneously halt global warming, reduce air and water pollution and develop secure, reliable energy sources – nearly all with existing technology and at costs comparable with what we spend on energy today – why wouldn’t you do it?”Last year, a couple of researchers from Stanford and UC Davis published a pair of papers asking, can we replace our worldwide energy need using only clean, renewable energy sources? The answer they came up with is yes. Hell yes. They’ve calculated that in less than 40 years, it is entirely feasible to be completely rid of pollution from the fossil fuels by which we run our vehicles and industries and eliminate all concerns of runaway global warming destroying all life on Earth – all with currently existing tech!
