The hostels of the Manipal University at Mangalore include the KapriGudda Men’s Hostel and Nandgiri Ladies Hostel for undergraduates, the Falnir Men’s Hostel and Priya Ladies Hostel for doctors and post-graduate students. The Kaprigudda Men’s hostel was inaugurated way back in 1966. It has remained a popular and known place in the city since then with hundreds of its former residents spread successfully across the country and globe.
As Medical students we spend sleepless nights and this gives us time to contemplate on various aspects of our existence.
Life at the hostel is something special. When you come in for the first time, you’re nervous and yearn for home. Gradually the Hostel becomes your second home. the caring and the sharing of the friends and the occasionally hidden away food from home… these are, but, just a few things that make Hostel life what it is.
We’ve written many a post about this beautiful beach at Kaup. The pictures generally speak for the pristine beauty of the beach which is an all time weekend haunt for many a student from Manipal and Mangalore.
Travel and immerse yourself into the beauty of this world. Crazy Bike Ride of 45 kms from Mangalore. And what was waiting at the other side was heaven 😉 Although Kaup hasn’t been explored on a full-fledged level, the beach attracts many tourists and there have instances of films being shot in the beach and the surrounding areas as well. Kaup beach is famously known to house an old lighthouse that was apparently built in the year 1901. The lighthouse is open for visitors during certain periods of time in the course of the day. It offers a delightful view of the entire beach and seashore that will surely take your breath away.
Panambur Beach, 10 km from Mangalore, is visited by large number of people during weekends and lies next to the New Mangalore Port. A group of kite makers and kite flyers from Mangalore, organize kite festivals at Panambur Beach which is usually conducted during the last week of April.
Panambur beach is probably the best beach in and around Mangalore. Waves are not that high but good sand beach. Panambur beach is located besides New Mangalore port which is the harbor for many ships. It is around 15 km away from the city center on NH 17.
The Panambur beach is a popular Sunday outing spot among the locals. You can also view splendid ships sailing among the ups and down of the rough Arabian sea. One can see the shoreline stretching of all the way to Surathkal from here. The lighthouse of the Surathkal Beach can also been seen from this beach.”
This is a beautiful clean beach attracting large number of visitors and tourists during summer vacation and other holidays. You can also view splendid ships sailing among the ups and down of the rough Arabian sea. Chat and snack stalls are available near the beach. City Buses with Route no. 2, 2A, 2C, 40A, 41A, 45, 45G, 53, 53A, 59 A short walk of 10 minutes from the bus stand is required to the beach.
