Going to a college is like a dream come true, especially when it is your favorite one — a new beginning, new life, new friends and not to forget a new lifestyle.
When we think of college, the first thing that comes to mind is the extravagant parties. Three to four years of dramatic growth which will try to shape you into responsible and ideological citizens but let’s admit it that is not all that a college has to offer. Partying is an equal aspect of college which goes hand in hand, and when you feel yourself, all bottled up with the stress of studies, then enjoying a party can indeed be a lifesaver.
College parties are pretty different than your high school parties or pyjama parties. It is not just going to be about sweets, snacks, and soft drinks. College parties are a whole new dimension, and as a fresher, you need to stay prepared.
Parties are a big deal when you are in college, and it is part and parcel of the whole college life experience.
But you do not want to be remembered as a fresher who passed out on their first-ever college party.
So, to save you from all the embarrassment and get you prepared here we have some tips which are going to allow you to live your college life to the fullest.
- Do Not Have an Empty Stomach
We understand that you do not want to look all fat and bloated in your sexy bodycon dress, but we suggest not to make this mistake. Going to a party on an empty stomach and gulping down alcohol or cocktails will only result in you getting drunk faster than expected. And this can result in an awful hangover the next morning. You do not want this. So, try eating something like fruits or salads before hitting the fraternity and enjoy as much as you want. Also, drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.
- Drink Before You Actually Start Drinking
I know this sounds a little confusing but allow me to explain. Before you land into someone else’s party, consider having a drink with a close group of friends. It will help you to know the drinks you are about to have in a party, and you will not end up drinking anything that random stranger has to offer. This will help you to stay safe as you will already be buzzed up and will not feel inclined towards drinking a glass full of God knows what.
- Never Go Alone
Since you are a fresher and you have no idea what a college party looks like always arrive with a bunch of friends or at least one single friend who will never leave your side. At the end of the day, it is all about enjoying and staying safe so you don’t want to walk into a house full of people you have never seen in your life and probably will never see again. Staying around a trusted squad will prevent any uncomfortable situation, and you will have fun to the fullest.
- Wear Minimal Makeup
You do not want to be walking through the door looking all dolled up because honestly, not many people are going to notice that. And even if they do, you do not want people to think you are available or inviting. So, avoid wearing heavy makeup and keep your makeup look as natural as possible. Because in the end, it is all about enjoying and not posing for a fashion show.
- Dress Accordingly
As you are in your room trying to figure out what to wear, you get intimidated with backless dresses and high heels. But trust me when I say it’s a trap! Once you reach a party and you are six shots down you will find your ankles breaking and you will desperately want to get out of that body-hugging dress and slip into something comfortable.
You also do not want to get too flashy with your backless dress because you have no idea where your clothing is going after you are hammered. Instead, wear something sober yet party appropriate and always keep the comfortably and caution factor in mind. The best idea is to dress according to the party’s theme.
- Don’t Try Out All the Drinks at The Party
If you are not a pro in the alcohol business, then take it slow. Do not rush into trying out every drink that you can find on the table. If you start with a beer or vodka, then stick to it for the entire night. Mixing several alcohols in your system will only end up in feeling uncomfortable, and you will not be able to enjoy to the fullest.
- Don’t Limit Yourself from Meeting New People
College life is all about new experiences and making new friends. And what can be a more significant opportunity than a college party? Therefore, step out of your comfort zone, break the shell, and be open to meeting new and exciting people.
Do not limit yourself or get scared because not every guy out there is going to drug you. If you find someone cute and interesting, then do not hold yourself back and introduce yourself. However, do not get too close because of it just the first night. You do not want to be too pushy.
- Carry Cash
You can never know when an emergency pops up. So always carry some cash with you because you do not want to be walking alone on the road in the middle of the night all wobbly and booze up.
Carry a little amount of cash in your purse or jacket or pants to avail a cab if your friends ditch you or just in case you have to leave early.
- Say No to Drinks If You Don’t Want Any
You out of all the people know yourself the best. So, try to say no and avoid drinks if you feel you have surpassed your limits and cannot take in any more. Because obviously, you do not want to be the drunkest person at the party.
You will find too many pushy people cheering you up for drinks which can get really intimidating, but it is better to avoid than to regret. You do not want to end up in a pool of your own puke and then have yourself in the morning.
Conclusion
All of these tips were not meant to scare you but to make you smarter in this business. You are just a fresher, and you will become a pro in these years so that is not something you should worry about. These tips were only to inform you what you should keep in mind before you land into any party as a complete fresher. Because situations can turn ugly in a matter of time.
