5 things I miss about Kaprigudda Boys hostel, Mangalore

The Long Walk

Hostel life is something everyone cherishes for a life time. Here are 5 things from my Kaprigudda days that I miss today.

4 AM gaadi shop: The gaadi shop at Jyothi circle should not be missed. Poori Bhaaji which borders on orgasmic is a must have. Plus great chance to revel in the new found freedom of adulthood, being out there in the dark of the night.

Cricket in the Basketball court : The most fun part about playing on the court was the challenge of hitting the board above the hoop. Only place you picked up 5 runs.

Rum at the rooftop: A place with a commanding view of the surrounding city, till you can make out that is. The cool breeze was intoxicating in itself 🙂 … JJ it was the rum.

Parking your bike right outside your room: The part I missed the most after the main block got renovated. It gave you such a VIP feeling that you could park right outside your room and walk into the room with a swagger… heavenly.

The long walk : If ever there was a way to live like the rest of India does (seems straight out of an OPED right???),  it was to take that bucket and towel slung over your shoulder and walk to the nearest toilet. It seemed uncomfortable at first but gradually it becomes a walk you’d rather enjoy especially for you didn’t need to share ATTACHED toilet with a careless smelly guy.

PS: only applicable to main block
Lived in it when it still looked like the dreary hostel from an NFDC film.
