  2. Being able to eat when you are hungry and continue eating until you are satisfied.
  3. Being able to use moderate constraint in your food selection to get the right food, but not being so restrictive that you miss out on pleasurable foods.
  4. Giving yourself permission to eat sometimes because you are happy, sad, or bored, or just because it feels good.
  5. Three meals a day, most of the time, but it can also be choosing a snack.
  6. Leaving some food on the plate if you know you are not hungry for it.
  7. Overeating at times – feeling stuffed and uncomfortable.
  8. Undereating at times – and wishing you had more.
  9. Trusting your body to make up for your mistakes in eating.
  10. Knowing it takes time and attention, but keeps its place as only one important area of your life.
  11. Flexible, and varies in response to your emotions, your schedule, your hunger, and your proximity to food.

About Nurse 123 Articles
When I think about all the patients and their loved ones that I have worked with over the years, I know most of them don't remember me nor I them. But I do know that I gave a little piece of myself to each of them and they to me and those threads make up the beautiful tapestry in my mind that is my career in nursing.
