Spain thus defended their 2008 Euro Cup title and achieved the unique distinction of being the first team to win three major tournaments in a row (Euro ’08, World Cup ’10, and Euro ’12). Italy tried hard to stop the Spanish team from completing the troika of victories, but they were simply no match for the wonderful all-round game of the Spanish team. The Spanish side were clearly superior in this match right out of the gates. Italy was never in this game, but it was more a case of the Spaniards jacking up their game a couple of notches, rather than any wrong doing on behalf of the Italians.

The Spaniards, who were ribbed for playing boring soccer during the course of the Euro 2012 tournament, came alive right from the start and it was nice to watch a game that was actually entertaining. There was a good flow and no defensive shut down play by either team as seen during the build-up to the finals. The Spanish team scored two quick goals in the first half of the game and the Italian squad could not mount a comeback. In spite of the lopsided victory, it was still a pretty good game with the Italian team still moving forward until about mid-way through the second half when they seemed to lose their legs. The mastery of the Spanish attackers with their crisp, short passing game and their give and go style was fun to watch. They added two more goals near the end of the game just to emphasize who is the best team in the world , and becoming the only team in Euro Cup history to score 4 goals in a final.

So is this Spanish team the best ever? Let us know your opinions!
