Just to let aspirants know about the same. While this will be again told to you at your campus orientation, the details for the same can be found below –
BITS offers two types of scholarships – which can be availed ONLY IF YOU ARE NOT BENEFITTING FROM ANY OTHER SCHOLARSHIP LIKE NTSE/KVPY, etc. –
Merit Scholarship – Here, the top 1% students of a batch get 80% of their tuition fee waived (Irrespective of income level)
The next 2% of students get 40% waived off their tuition fee
MCN (Merit Cum Needs) Scholarship – Here, if the total annual income of BOTH YOUR PARENTS IS LESS THAN INR 8 LAKH (and your CGPA is above 6), you can apply for the same – after which top 3% in this category get 80% waived, next 6% get 40% waived and subsequent 12% get 25% waived.
In all cases, the tuition fee is a certain percentage of the total semester fees. E.g., If the tuition fee is 1 lakh and semester fee is 1.3 lakh (the remaining being your hostel + mess charges), you’re awarded scholarship only on the 1 lakh, and you pay the rest 30,000 as it is.
To apply for MCN, you’ll have to keep a set of documents ready when you visit college, the complete list for which has been provided in the following link –
