Movie ScoreBoard 13: Kaththi (Tamil) Movie Review:
Our Score: 34.5/50
Genre: Action | Drama | Thriller
Cast: Actor Vijay, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Neil Nitin Mukesh, …
Music: Anirudh Ravichander
Direction: Director A.R.Murugadoss
Murugadoss is back with Vijay after the massive victory of Thuppaki. Does he do the same with this attempt too?
A case of mistaken identity between the two roles played by Vijay leads to all the drama and hatred from the villains. While one character is an innocent man from a village, the other is a criminal mastermind.
Vijay. This is the person about whom we should speak firstly. The amount of energy and screen presence he has is just amazing. Even if there are not many visual differences between the two characters, he modulates his voice and body language between the two. After Azhagiya Thamizh Magan (which was a disaster due to the screenplay), Vijay scores.
Samantha looks pretty as always. She has no heavier-than-usual role to play. Her expressions seemed a little less though.
Neil Nitin Mukesh looks smart and criminal at the same time. His lip-sync must be appreciated. A good performance!
Tota Roy also does a very neat job.
The rest of the cast (Sathish included) does reasonably well.
Anirudh gives us peppy numbers, gala guaranteed in the theatres. BGM is also good but becomes repetitive after a point. Selfie Pulla and Aathi are a delight.
Cinematography and editing are top class.
Murugadoss writes a social-oriented script and infuses very interesting twists and plots along the way. As usual, his screenplay is what makes the film strong. While the first half is fun and frolic, the second moves to a serious pace.
On the whole, a film with a social message but with a lot of entertainment as well. This Diwali, enjoy this firework with your friends and family.
