India Crowned….Deservingly….!!!

Yes the World Champions they are..!!! And in a very true sense. They reflected the true charisma, style and mettle what champions are made of. Right from the very first game of the tournament, they kept things tight may it be batting or bowling or fielding. Quickly learnt from their mistakes and proved their critics wrong every time.

ICC WORLD CUP CHAMPIONS 2011 INDIA
When i last recall the Indian team a few years back, I could visualize a highly disorganized team with good quality players but lacking a driving force. But in matter of no time, the force was provided by M.S.Dhoni as the captain and Gary Kirsten as the coach. The strategies and the tactics improved exponentially and India reached a stage where it had the most competitive batting as well as bowling line ups. At the commence of the World Cup, India’s batting order could send shiver down the spines of very reputed teams.
But as the World Cup progressed, Indian team showed its very aggressive intentions. The outstanding levels of improvement shown in the fielding department was a delight to watch. The sturdy and unshakable batting order and the accurate bowling line gave the indications that this team was going to make it to the finals. But after ripping the previous World Champions Australia off their title and the solid win against the much hyped Pakistan game, India made it clear that this was going to be a tough final for the competing team. And so they did prove themselves.
And what could have been better to have won the World Cup in the Home ground, first of its feat in history. One could see the Indian players reacting to the situation emotionally with almost everyone welling up after the win. The game maestro Sachin Tendulkar remarked “I could not really control my tears but those were happy tears and I don’t mind it”. Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh and some other players were also in tears. It really was the biggest moment of their life and they deserved it after all the effort they put in, inspite of the rude criticism and ridicule they suffered.

Nevertheless, an inspired India on April 2, 2011 regained the coveted World Cup after 28 years as they suppressed Sri Lanka with a six-wicket victory in a nerve-wrecking final to script a glorious new chapter in their cricketing history.Virat Kohli summed up the feelings of the grateful nation for the little master when he said “He has carried the burden of the nation for 21 years so it’s time we carried him on our shoulders”. Also the team bid adieu to  a great coach as well as a humble person, Gary Kirsten.
