The Difference Between Armodafinil And Modafinil

Lab Drug Preparation Testing

It is not uncommon for people to think that Armodafinil and Modafinil is one and the same. Just by looking at their name, you cannot deny the fact that it’s easy to confuse them both. However, if you really think about it, isn’t it odd for people to create and use two very similar terms when they mean exactly the same thing? If you ask me, that’s just inconvenient. I would even dare say “stupid” because it makes absolutely no sense at all.

Good thing that this isn’t the case, though. There is a reason why one is named Armodafinil and the other just Modafinil. And this difference is exactly what we are going to be talking about today. Check out how these substances first came to be here: https://www.sciencedirect.com/topics/neuroscience/armodafinil.

What Are These Two Anyway?

Whoa, I forgot to hold my horses there. Excuse the rudeness; I just assumed that everybody knows what these two terms and jumped right into the topic. Anyway, for all of you who are quite new to this, let’s take a little step back and start from the very beginning.

Armodafinil and Modafinil are what you’d call nootropic substances. For many of you, the word “nootropic” may already ring a bell. Unfortunately, to most, it’s not a very happy-sounding bell. This is because the word nootropic is often misunderstood. It’s likened to illegal drugs and substances when in fact, it’s really not. At least, not all types of it.

Nootropic medicine is what is commonly referred to as “smart drugs.” And you know how people get when they hear about pills that somehow affect the brain. They panic and overreact almost too instantly. I guess the many stories that we hear about people who somehow lost their way and got into the habit of illegal substances has made us fear anything that resembles or sounds like them. You don’t have to worry about nootropics though. While they may be smart drugs, they’re often sold at micro dosages so there is hardly any threat to your well-being. What is more alarming is if you miss out on things because you continue to refuse to know more about these wonder pills.

Smart drugs are brain enhancers. They help improve a person’s brain activity and cognitive processes. They don’t necessarily make you hallucinate or just plain crazy. Nootropics are well-managed, chemically-engineered meds that help people improve certain brain functions such as concentration, comprehension, focus, memory retention, and memorization. This brain-enhancing effect is very helpful to people, especially those that are constantly plagued by work stress and deadlines. A person can only do so much to consistently perform his best. How Do Nootropics Help People?

Smart drugs help people cope with life’s day-to-day stresses. If you really think about it, we spend more than two-thirds of each year working. In fact, sometimes, we don’t even give our days off justice and continue to expend every last bit of energy we have working. Having to cope and maintain such a rigorous lifestyle can be very tough on the brain, especially since it literally takes no breaks throughout our lifetime. Even as we sleep, it keeps on working so we can’t really blame it for getting too tired to function properly every now and again.

This is when the use of smart drugs becomes evident. Nootropic medicine is like a supplement for the brain; it helps recharge our mental state and perk it up so that it’s ready to take on some more work. While rest is definitely the best way to reboot our brain functions, some of us can barely afford the time off. This is why we turn to nootropics as they offer a fast and generally safe solution to our lack of focus and concentration. The people who benefit most from using smart drugs are the same people who have crazy hectic schedules. It’s as if they’re racing all the time, afraid that life will catch up to them and run them by. Students on a tight deadline, employees with big presentations, and entrepreneurs putting in long hours to create the perfect pitch, these are only a few of the many people that need some sort of mental aid to keep going and get their tasks done.

One such favourite of busybodies are the substances Armodafinil and Modafinil.

What Is The Difference Between Armodafinil and Modafinil?

I agree that these two terms are rather confusing. But there are definitely differences between the two smart drugs. So let me break it down to you using the simplest definition I can come up with: Armodafinil is Modafinil when unprocessed.

Armodafinil is not exactly considered a nootropic, although this is debatable. This is because it does not actively exhibit the properties of a textbook nootropic. However, once taken, the substance is processed in the liver and produces what we call Modafinil and enacts the wakefulness-promoting property that naturally comes from the substance.

Modafinil, the processed version of Armodafinil, may also be purchased as it is. Researchers have found that Modafinil works better than its origin substance because it has been isolated from its other enantiomer that does not have the wakefulness-promoting effect. Armodafinil is also said to peak faster leading to a hard crash later on. Compared to that, Modafinil has a steady effect that can last for hours on end.
