Just south across Singapore’s harbour is the Sentosa island. You can get across on a ferry, cable car, or the Sentosa Express. It’s an idyllic resort island with beautiful beaches, resorts, and fun attractions for the whole family.
The following are some of the main attractions on this island:
Southeast Asia Aquarium (S.E.A Aquarium) is the world’s biggest aquarium, featuring over 100,000 marine animals from over 800 species. Main attractions include manta rays, hammerhead sharks and Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphins. Adventure Cove Water park allows thrill seekers the chance to get wild and wet.
Underwater World is a unique oceanarium showcasing around 2500 marine lives from round the regions. The journey to the bottom of the sea begins at the water’s edge, with shallow rock turtle and star fish pools followed by colourful corals and exotic ocean dwellers (including eels, sea horses and jelly fishes) prior to stepping on the underwater moving travelator to see the majestic rays, fearsome sharks, great shoals of colourful fishes along with a host of other creatures, swimming right above your head.
Universal studio Singapore is the perfect place to experience a movie right off the screen.
The whole park is divided into themes – Hollywood, New York, Sci-Fi, Ancient Egypt, Lost World, Far Far Away and Madagascar. And in each theme there are 3-4 rides and attractions.
There are shows and character meet-and-greets all around the park. You get to click pictures with Po (Kung Fu Panda), Frankenstein, Shrek and Fiona, and a lot more.
No visit to Sentosa is complete without witnessing the iconic Merlion, a structure that is half-lion and half-fish. Climb to the top of the statue and you can experience a spectacular 360 degree view of Sentosa, including Singapore’s southern shores and a glimpse of the dazzling city skyline.
And to finish off for the day – the Sentosa Laser Light Show is one not to be missed. It is an amazing show, with spectacular pyrotechnics displays, dancing fountains, laser show and an open-air viewing gallery. All the special effects along with enchanting music make this a one-of-a-kind spectacle.
