Nuclear Disasters

Not Literally. I don’t mean ACTUAL nuclear disasters. This post was originally going to be titled ‘Why I’m Banned from the Kitchen’. But I thought ‘Nuclear Disasters’ summed up the situation quite nicely.

So my cooking experiences usually go something like this.

Which is USUALLY followed by…

No joke.

Okay, kinda joke. A teeny bit of exaggeration.

But this is why I SHOULD be banned from the kitchen. But of course, I need to learn to cook, I’ll have  a family to feed one day, blah blah blah, etc. etc., so on and so forth.

Now I CAN kinda cook basic stuff, though in hostel I basically survive on instant noodles >.>.

And I’m sure you do too, so don’t judge me -.-

So anyhow, my parents decided that I WOULD learn to cook, even if it killed them. And the neighbours.

Which is how I, despite my inhibitions, ended up being responsible for cooking mushrooms for dinner. WITHOUT consulting a recipe.

“Get creative,” said mom. ” And no internet, If you want instructions on how to cook it, call up one of your aunts.”

And then she and dad ran for it (a wise decision, parents mine), leaving me and my sister alone in a house that I was probably going to blow up in the next couple of hours.

And somehow, I managed. I just found random stuff I knew went into almost every dish and sorta just tossed the mushrooms in with them (THANK YOU, MasterChef Australia. You have taught me well ). And surprisingly enough, they were edible, albeit a little salty. In fact, they could be even called tasty.  And they didn’t even give anyone food poisoning * tears of joy*.

Now don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against learning to cook. But it’s just that when you know you are absolutely terrible at something, you kinda develop an aversion towards it, probably as a way to not embarrass yourself further. But I have no choice.

And I’m okay with it. I will probably get sick of living off cup noodles and fast food eventually, right?

So here’s to learning new things 🙂

And again, any suggestions for comic strip topics in the comments below will be very much appreciated 😀 !
