College is incredible journey with both opportunities and challenges. Few people around the world have the opportunity you have been given. To make the most of this opportunity will require persistence, passion and hard work. Thomas Edison once said Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.
Earning a college degree is going to require work. It will mean going to classes you don’t find interesting. It will mean getting yourself to class when you’d rather be in bed or somewhere else. It will mean struggling to understand ideas that are new to you. It will mean working harder and longer on assignments than you’ve ever had to before. Earning a college degree is going to require work…but there will be opportunities that grow from the work. You will be fascinated by courses and subjects that you never even knew existed. You will develop confidence in your ability to manage yourself and your time. You will find new passions, and new interests. You will find you are capable of so much more than you have ever asked of yourself before.
