What is the scope of Chemical Engineering in future?
The scope is vast. You can get into PSUs (Public Sector Undertakings) such as ONGC, IOCL, BPCL, etc. through securing a good rank through GATE. The average package you will getting in PSUs is 11-12 lpa. That’s a pretty good amount for a beginner. As your experience increase, your pay will also increase. If you want to go for campus placements, then also you can get placed in good MNCs like Schlumberger, Shell, EIL, Pokarna, etc.
In BITS Pilani campus, you can expect a little high package but in Hyderabad and Goa the average package will be around 5 lpa. But there is a lot of scope if you go for higher studies, i.e., Masters and PhD.
As mentioned earlier about various sub-branches in chemical engineering, you can go to any field for MS and PhD. You just need to have passion for that field and should have done projects in that particular field. If you go abroad for higher studies, then you will a great exposure and experience to that particular field and if you want you can either go for research or apply for job either there or in India.
By doing so, your package will also increase because for the company you are now valuable as you possess in-depth knowledge in that field compared to other applicants who would have done only B.E.
There are many fields which require young minds innovation like material science, nanotechnology, energy, biochemical, etc.
