For Men May Come And Men May Go, But I Go On Forever”
As the world revolves, as nature evolves, as life always progresses, as men always are born, and more men always die, as wars keep getting fought, the magnitude of the nature of nature is to move towards chaos and uncertainty, as the entropy of this universe increases constantly, there is only one thing which remains constant, and will remain constant.
People die, buildings get demolished, empires fall, and as change is so merrily defined as the only thing constant, there is one more thing that lives on, which cannot be killed, which cannot be destroyed, which cannot be disturbed. This is the spirit of people, the flame in their hearts, the supernatural ability of that very spirit to make its way through buildings, people, and empires. It is the same spirit which broke down empires, the same spirit that rebuilt enormous kingdoms, the same spirit which changed music forever, and the same spirit that was built on lives of the past. And Revels 2010 is here to just but celebrate that spirit of the people of the past.
From classic bollywood of the 70s to even more classic rock which redefined the way that people understood music, Retro is just a fancy word given to the period of the growth of culture that we are all proud of today. Today’s culture is largely defined, and was redefined by our yesterdays. And with ultra-modern progression in society, nothing but the music and the movies of this great period of mankind remain with us today. And as we all say that we’re unique, we still live by the ways of the past, and we’re all proud of it.
With the battle of Bands at the Innovation centre, and classic solo performances and Kamath Circle, every MITian feels the spirit of Revels. From every corner erupts great rock music, and everybody just talks about revels. Every MITian feels that unborn, untouched, virgin spirit in them, every year, and this year, it has been taken to another level. With Extra loud music, with attires of the past, with many lives to celebrate, Revels is to be a Jam packed four days of magical, inhuman, unguarded, activity. And as with Birth of Christianity and with the birth of Buddhism, the revolution has come, and has hit each heart so hard, that every single soul and entity is a part of this magical Butterfly effect called Revels.
From the past to the present and from the present back to the past; that is what what Revels 2010 is all about.
Ideas whirling in the conscious mind, imaginations emanating from the subconscious, every student at MIT successfully incorporates myriad ideas into the colors of our cultural fest – REVELS 2010.
