HappyNewYear (Hindi) Movie Review:
Our Score: 24/50
Genre: Drama | Comedy
Cast: Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, …
Music: Shekhar Ravjiani Official, Vishal Dadlani, John Stewart
Direction: Farah Khan
Farah Khan is back with her favourite SRK. What does she have in store for us?
A bunch of petty thieves plan a diamond heist, and on the way get into a dance competition. The amount of nuisance created by this gang is what forms the story.
Shah Rukh Khan looks younger than ever. His muscular physique is mindblowing. We have to give it to him. But acting wise, even though he is seen in every frame of the movie, nothing special! Yes, he does carry the film on his shoulders.
Deepika Padukone is ravishing and looks beautiful. Her accent is highly irritating. Again, acting wise, no comments!
Abhishek Bachchan and the rest play second fiddle to SRK and do their parts decently well.
Songs are too loud and monotonous. BGM is again too loud. Editing and cinematography are good.
Farah Khan has made sure that she places SRK in every frame, a feast for the fans! She has taken a very poorly written script and tried to add a lot of glamour and masala through the superstars in the film, but it doesn’t work out very well.
On the whole, despite having its moments, it is a dull and boring affair, this New Year carnival.
