Top 10 80’s Flicks

  1. The Breakfast Club – You can’t think about movies of the 1980’s without thinking of The Breakfast club.  This film touched the hearts of teens (and adults) everywhere.  It was a defining moment for the brat pack as well.  Starring Molly Ringwald, Judd Nelson, Anthony Micheal Hall, Emilio Estevez and Ally Sheedy.
  1. Ferris Bueller’s Day Off – This is a movie that can be watched over and over.  Matthew Broderick gives an excellent performance as a smart-mouth teen who wants to have one day of fun with his girlfriend and his best friend.  Starring Matthew Broderick and Alan Ruck.
  1. Stand By Me – A heartwarming story about a group of boys who go on an unforgettable adventure to find the body of a missing boy.  The plot heats up as they are closely tailed by a gang of older boys from their town.  Starring River Phoenix and Corey Feldman.
  1. Fast Times at Ridgemont High – Sean Penn got his start in this movie with his famous line “Let’s party, dudes!”.  Although it’s a comedy, this is a coming-of-age film with mature themes.  Starring Sean Penn and Jennifer Jason Leigh.
  1. Heathers – At the end of the 1980’s, Heathers was a huge hit among young and old.  This movie is definitely a thriller and represented a new crop of hot young actors during the time.  Starring Winona Ryder and Christian Slater.
  1. Sixteen Candles – Everyone loves it when the underdog comes out on top (oops, I just gave away the ending!).  Sixteen Candles is a classic teen film about an average girl with a crush.  The cast is hilarious with lots of familiar faces.  Starring Molly Ringwald and Anthony Michael Hall.
  1. Goonies – The treasure hunt of a group of young boys turns into an all-out adventure when a family of criminals tries to rain on their parade.  This movie makes you want to believe in treasure maps and pirate ships.  Starring Corey Feldman and Corey Haim.
  1. Better Off Dead – Finally, John Cussack gets his own movie!  He gets dumped by his girlfriend for the school jock and tries to overcome his insecurities while trying to win her back.  Starring John Cussack and Curtis Armstrong.
  1. Porky’s – If you grew up in the 1980’s, this is a movie your parents did not let you watch.  It’s about a group of high school boys who are desperate to have sex.  Their hilarious antics will keep you giggling.  Starring Kim Cattrell and Scott Colomby.
  1. Revenge of the Nerds – You could spend an entire day watching all the “Revenge of the Nerds” movies.  They’re highly entertaining in that goofy, gross way.  If you can handle the humor, by all means, enjoy!  Starring Robert Carradine and Anthony Edwards.
