Escape

Off the road of unknown, meaningless smiles I trudge – on the beaten track, I count the miles

Expectations stifle the liberation,
Pressures of fitting in, falling in line;
My desires subjugated – they are no more mine
Just another follower of the herd nation!

Off the road of unknown, meaningless smiles I trudge – on the beaten track, I count the miles
Off the road of unknown, meaningless smiles
I trudge – on the beaten track, I count the miles

You kill my dreams, my burning fires,
Off the road of unknown, meaningless smiles
I trudge – on the beaten track, I count the miles
You torture me, perfectionist sires!

Wild flights of the throbbing mind,
They know not the world’s rules;
Mighty, sombre angels hate the mild, sprightly fools
They cast their spell – the perfect, geometric kind!

Why cannot I wander free, have no sensible reason?
Why am I slave to the logical Darwinist?
I wish to dream, for I wish to live – not exist!
Mea culpa! Dear Orderly World, I am guilty of treason!!
