Health Benefits of a Vegan Lifestyle

More people visit their doctors often nowadays. Millions are spent on medicines, doctor’s fees, and other hospital bills annually. Illnesses and diseases increase in frequency at the workforce, and industrial companies lose a lot in profit. Heart-attacks are fast becoming rampant in affluent societies, and most often, it brings grief to families. Mortality rates soar because of too much consumption of foods rich in fat.

Our food nowadays is no longer safe. Almost all our food is processed. Most meals are loaded with monosodium glutamate, aspartame, and other toxic chemicals that cause cancers, tumors, and other diseases.

The meat we buy from the markets is no longer safe, as well. Beef, chicken, and fish are sprayed with chemicals to keep them fresh. Some of these reach our kitchen double dead, i.e., they were dead already before they were butchered for sale in the markets.

Growth hormones are injected into animals and fowls, and consumers ingest them into their system. Take the cow as an example. They are infused with a recombinant bovine growth hormone. Their feeds are mixed with chemicals and powdered carcasses of sick animals, thus the notorious mad cow disease. Chicken is not safe, too — their feeds are loaded with chemicals. And the fish we eat comes from the waters polluted with sewage from industrial plants, and with human wastes, and with dead animals.

Our safe alternative is to go vegan. Light protein from plants can be easily digested and absorbed by the body. Fruits, grains, nuts, and vegetables are rich in vitamins and minerals essential to good health. Plentiful benefits can be obtained in eating raw fruits, grains, and legumes.

Environmental Benefits of A Vegan Lifestyle

Veganism is a lifestyle that revolves around restraint from the use or ingestion of animal products and avoiding products that have been tested on animals. People become vegans for a variety of reasons – some do it to support animal rights, some for health reasons, or moral, ethical, and even religious reasons. The amount you pay at the grocery store to purchase a fresh turkey, beef, or lamb isn’t the only price you’re paying for the product. Indeed, the environmental cost of consuming animal products is pretty high.

The animal cruelty involved in raising animals as food and clothing items is extreme. You wouldn’t treat your animal companion as a food and clothing source, and farmed animals shouldn’t be treated any differently.

Fabrics that are also suitable for a Vegan lifestyle include those made from:

The agricultural animal industry has a massive negative impact on the environment as a whole. Desertification, soil erosion, contaminated groundwater, and greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to climate change are but a few concerns that result from raising animals – specifically beef – solely for food purposes.

Furthermore, the industry is a massive setback to remedying the concern of world hunger. Just consider this: animal agriculture is responsible for 20-30% of all freshwater consumption in the world. Additionally, livestock or feed used to nourish livestock occupies 1/3 of the Earth’s ice-free land. If demand for meat was to reduce dramatically, much of the resources used to produce animal products could instead be distributed to populations in need.

There are plenty of alternatives to using animal products! So why wouldn’t you use them instead?
