Woof! Woof! Woof!

The whole world comes to a standstill when we see our dog at our doorstep, waiting for us to return home. They are always deliriously ecstatic to see us. Such is the bond we share with our dogs. A bond that is unbound by conditions, a love that is altruistic, an experience of a friendship that is nothing less than heaven on earth.

Needless to say, dogs have been human’s trustworthy partners since the Stone Age. We tend to feel a sense of security, both physical and emotional, around our dog because our empathetic partner is always ready to understand us. Dogs are considered to be a human’s best friend. Obviously, it is because dogs are friendly, loyal, loving, cuddly, also therapeutic.

With humans, their affection is something complicated; it involves expectations and judgments. This is not the case with a dog. The human-canine relationship is an uncomplicated, non-challenging interaction with no consequences. In hard times and in good times, this loving interaction is always welcome.

Dogs have effective healing power. They are better than a choco lava cake. When we feel low or distressed, our snuggle partner will always be there to make us feel better and exhilarated. In more severe cases, dogs act as professional counselors. Such dogs are called ‘therapy dogs’. These are dogs that are trained to provide affection, comfort, and love to people in hospitals, retirement homes, nursing homes, schools, hospices, and disaster-affected areas. They are healing companions for people with health conditions such as cancer, post-traumatic stress disorder, and dementia. Research shows that these dogs can reduce stress by decreasing cortisol levels and can trigger the increase of one’s trust in other humans by increasing the levels of the hormone- oxytocin, and the same happens with dogs, too.

This lovely bond that we share with dogs can cure a lot of emptiness. They will, definitely, leave us being more socially and physically active. In the case of petting them, they will aid us to kick out that laziness, thereby, saying yes to a healthy lifestyle, and make us take them on romantic walks. A romance that exists between you and your love – your dog.  Also, they help us live in the present, enjoying every bit of life. No space for the past!

From being the best companion that we could ever ask for, to being our best buddy, dogs are such a love. If you are looking for the best therapist consider these furry and four-legged creatures to brighten up your day!
