When humans first evolved from their ancestors, the world was harsh. Facial hair kept them warm in the long, cold winter months. Facial hair may have once served a purpose for the survival of humankind, but it is now outdated. With the wonderful invention of razors, we were able to leave behind the medieval practices of our forefathers and shave, representing progress, cleanliness and hygiene. Razors now are easier than ever to use, and we should take advantage of this advancement in razor technology.
For the most part, us girls have done our part in securing this image. While we don’t always shave our legs, we have a tendency to make sure they are hair-free before wearing shorts, skirts or a dress. We, however, are still subject to see massive amounts of facial hair spewing from the chins, above the upper lip and cheeks of men.
It is time to pick up your razor and shave. Facial hair is a nuisance and a threat to our society, for those who grow massive amounts of facial hair are retrogressing to the same standards as their caveman ancestors. In a world where progress is the key to a great civilization, we cannot allow for this. Many males with an overdose of testosterone think they’re so sexy with their bearded faces. They may argue that it’s “unmanly” not to be able to grow copious amounts of facial hair. While others can argue back and forth whether the ability to grow hair on your face is manly or unmanly, I am not suggesting that we remove the hair follicles on men’s faces (although that would be nice), but merely that these “manly men,” capable of growing facial hair, shave. This does not strip them of their ability to grow said hair – it just shows they’re willing to evolve into more sophisticated homo sapiens.
While I am an avid supporter of the clean-shaven man, I understand that sometimes other things get in the way of the shaving routine. Not only that, but shaving is sometimes painful and a bit of a hassle, especially if you have acne or razor bumps. For this reason, a bit of stubble every so often is acceptable. In fact, even a light beard on some men is acceptable if it is well-kept and groomed (however, every one of these men look better clean-shaven).
One thing that is never acceptable, however, is the mustache . Facial hair above the upper lip should undoubtedly be kept to a bare minimum, and by that I mean invisible. Growing hair in such a place in unbecoming of any man.
Facial hair is medieval and it’s time to start living in the twenty-first century. Please, men, shave off that beard and separate us from our cave-dwelling ancestors.
What a bunch of selfish views to impose. With absolutely NO basis of anything. Shaving represents progress? It’s not a deprived, low, under developed society where you you judge progress by if the men have shaven or not. Because if it is, I feel pretty sorry for the society that you live in.

You’ve COMPLETELY failed to take into account personal reasons. Actually no wait you have, just that you have called them unbecoming / unacceptable and caveman like. Who are you to judge how anyone would like to keep themselves? More then enough times there are people that look far better with one then without. Others not so.
I find this more amusing considering we’re in South India where keeping the mustache is the absolute basic norm for almost every male. Hell in India as is.
If you have an opinion on something, make it on something that you actually have some reasoning on besides blabbering how medieval it looks. What other people do for their own reasons.
At least, the beard is real. Do you want me to get into the all the fake advertising that women do ALL the time? That would be progress for you I’ll assume, men with shaved faces and women with fake breast implants and a personality so fake you could be blind and know it.
I do not see where the writer has opined on the religious beliefs of anyone. She just mentioned her tastes. Please do not bring religion into this discussion, it looks like a light hearted rant against men in general, and please let it remain so.

Of course, you being a non-selfish individual , know already that there may be certain religious beliefs that prevent women in South India (yes I’ve stayed in this part of the world, while completing my PhD a few years ago), from shaving their body parts as long as their husbands are alive / they are unmarried. You might also know that many people in India, cannot afford proper meal, let alone a can of Deo which may cost more than the entire daily wages of a menial labourer. And yet, you’ve commented on this stuff!
Grow up! This is a light hearted rant, which almost all of us girls have cribbed about once in our lifetime. I mean, you want to touch our soft skins, caress it with your fingers and kiss our cheeks too, but won’t let us have the same pleasure. Good point to put up Lindsay. But you’re forget something basic here. “First Views of Manipal” That is how I felt as soon as I got here. Recall I’m not from this country.
Then the case of Deo? I wasn’t talking about laborers here when I mentioned, there have been enough staff and professors and students here with that. It’s disgusting trying to learn something when all you can do is smell the disgusting sweat all around in a class. With people working on the street or begging, I’m not going to expect them to be all smelling of roses, but if you’re in an institution studying paying lakhs per year or teaching or in a post grad, I’d expect you to shower. If you don’t care about personal hygiene for yourself it’s all good, but it’s unfair that everyone around you has to suffer for it also. That’s disrespect and absolutely no empathy for people around. Forget deo if they can’t. A simple shower will do. Grow up? You’re alright with an individual that’s calling people barbaric for sporting beards and I’m the one who’s has to grow up? I just offered my views on the same. Everyone has their choice of what they want. She mentioned her points. I mentioned mine.

Khushal, I don’t see where the author is mentioning any particular community. It’s just the personal views, which, if you scour the net, you’ll find many women have written along similar lines.

Turban is different issue altogether.It is a threat to security given the terror-infested world we live in.The same applies to VEIL worn by women as well.

This is about as sexist as it can get. There was no light heartedness in this post. Far from it. Calling men with beards uncivilized and cave dwellers is insulting to a lot of people.

Ummm. I’m not sure if you live in India, but LOOK AROUND, you women haven’t done your part at all.
If women don’t shave their beards why should we!
Well, at first I was getting wild as the post was going in the direction I never liked. But then I realised that the author was a female and this was a common feeling across all women. But believe me, beard is a great tool to brush on your partner’s face to irritate her 😀
