Blood Money: Awesome music but leaves you asking why?

Blood Money’ meaning: Money earned from people’s blood!!! Vishesh Films new movie looked a little promising in the promos but it lacks perfection. It’s a simple concept common in Vishesh Films movies, one middle class guy aspiring to make it big, rather very big and then realizing that he is not on an honest path! This might remind you of movie ‘Jannat’.

Summary: Kunal (Kunal Khemu) an ambitious MBA from a lower middle class Mumbai background comes with his wife Arzoo (Amrita Puri) to join a company Zaveri Diamonds in Cape Town. Initially everything seems fabulous to Kunal from his work to the company facilities and offerings and it looks equally difficult to Arzoo seeing her husband very busy that he even fails to remember her birthday. Things turn bitter for Kunal when he realizes that its people’s blood involved i.e. the terrorism, black money, honest killings and thus the money he is making is a blood money! So what is next? Does Kunal goes deep in and make it huge at the stake of his personal life with Arzoo or does he fights back like a larger than life actor in a usual masala movie, comes out honest and makes you feel ‘ehh!! Is it possible?’

Review: It’s a first one hour that scores high and leaves you a little excited but later things turn a lot simple and the twists do not seem to lure you at all. The debutant director Vishal Mahadkar has done well at some sequences capturing the beautiful Cape Town locations. One will probably like Kunal’s meeting with some well-known terrorist, a sequence quite brilliantly shot Angola, Africa. Kunal Khemu is a very talented actor and a better script and clean direction can make it visible. He has done well and it looks he can carry a movie on his shoulders single-handedly. Do you remember his performance in the movie ‘Superstar’? The actress Arzoo looks beautiful and does her job very well. Manish Chowdhary once again delivers an exceptional performance as Kunal’s boss and villain after ‘Rocket Singh’. The most disappointing aspect of the movie is its dialogues, so poor that you can laugh your hearts out on some serious dialogue delivery.

Just like all other Mahesh Bhatt movies this movie has got a brilliant music and very melodious numbers. ‘Chaahat’, ‘Arzoo’ and ‘Jo tere sang’ being the ones you will have on your lips all these days.

An idea that was absolutely awesome, but attempt that was not perfect but still a DVD watch to banta hai yaar. I will give 2/5. One can see it to pass some time, to have a watch at the exotic locations of Cape Town, listen to some good music and to watch one more masala bollywood movie.
