What Every Woman Should Have in Their Bag

You can never have too many useful things in your bag. Well, maybe, but it’s better to be safe than sorry. You never know what emergencies might crop up on a day to day basis, and where you might get caught out. It’s also worth having a well equipped bag to give you peace of mind, and to keep yourself occupied during long commutes or your lunch break. If you absolutely had to narrow down the most essential items, however, the following list makes some suggestions of what no sensible woman should be without:

1 – Smartphone

Your one stop, essential tool for getting in touch with people, fielding calls, checking your email and playing games. Having your smart phone with you at all times means that you won’t lose your connections, and means that you can keep yourself entertained. Remember to switch it off occasionally though.

2 – Antibacterial Hand Wash

Particularly useful if you commute or travel on a subway or other form of public transport. Antibacterial hand wash can be used to avoid picking up nasty germs from rails and being crammed in with other people, and is especially valuable during the winter months to help prevent you from catching a cold.

3 – Manicure Set

A bit of spare time can be filled by keeping up with your nail care. A small manicure set with cuticle sticks, a nail brush and a clipper can be carried without taking up too much space in your bag. It’s probably best to avoid the nail clipper on public transport though.

4 – Make Up Brushes

Always handy, having a kit containing lip-gloss, concealer, foundation, blusher, bronzer, eyeliner and mascara (just the essentials, then) will mean that you can touch up your makeup on the go, or on a break in work. Also comes in useful if you don’t have time to go home before going out after work.

5 – Travel Toothbrush/Floss

Another useful item to have on you if you can’t pop back home before a night out, a travel toothbrush and floss can be quickly used at the end of the day, or for a quick freshening up after lunch and tea breaks.

6 – Hair Ties

Useful for a windy day, or a bad hair day, hair ties and clips don’t take up much space, and provide a much appreciated quick fix.

7 – Deodorant

Travel sized deodorant bottles are essential to keep in your bag if you have to make a long and hot commute on a subway or bus, and don’t want to feel self conscious for the rest of the day.

8 – Book/Kindle

Ideal for filling breaks and the commute, a paperback book can fit easily into your bag. Alternatively, you can invest in an electronic reading device like a Kindle, which can be used to store multiple books, and will save on space.

9 – Umbrella

Depending on the size of a bag, an umbrella wrapped up as small as possible can be kept in a separate compartment of a bag as a rescue for rainy days.

10 – Snacks

Some healthy (or not so healthy snacks) can be kept for emergencies, and can include everything from fresh fruit to gum, nuts and chocolate bars.
