Manchester City vs Everton

Manchester City has made some top-notch news since the start of the season and last week was the first when they experienced something other than all 3 points. Away game against Fulham where Martin Jol’s men were all out on attack against City, who in my opinion were a bit careless coming to play against Fulham. Mancini’s round robin policy has been the key this time with 4 strikers rotating places every match. With the league cup against the cup holders Birmingham, Mancini fielded the young side out of which some début appearance were made. Kolo Toure who had been sidelined for over 6 months for having consumed some banned substance, was back into action for the Eastland club. More than anyone else, all eyes were on Owen Hargreaves, who played 57 mins after not playing for so many years after the knee injury which has plagued him through out. He is back with a bang and will surely be in contention for a place in the starting XI this week. Overall they are looking really deadly, and with the home game that they are playing this week it wouldn’t be a tough ask getting the 3 points.

Everton on the other hand had a slow start to season. 7 points from 4 games. But the revival was seen during the last 2 matches which they won. Leyton Baines has proved that he’s definitely in contention for Ashley Cole’s LB spot in the England team. Fellaini and Cahill are sure to be the key for David Moyes when he makes his trip to the City of Manchester stadium.

My Prediction: 2-1 for Manchester City

Arsenal vs Bolton Wanderers

GUNNERS – A disaster in the making? Where are they heading to? What is Arsene Wenger thinking? What will happen to their season? Lots and lots of questions being asked and there are not much of answers around.
Last week was terrible yet again for Arsenal where they created chances but failed to convert them and on the other hand, gave away 2 own goals which won Blackburn the game. Defense crisis continues for them where their replacement in the form of Mertesacker didn’t deliver what was expected out of him.

It’s too early days to come to conclusion as to where they will be heading to. As the season progresses the picture will get more clear. According to me, until December nothing can be said about the league. It has its own ups and downs. League cup was pretty good for Arsenal where they did come back from a goal behind to win it 3-1. That is definitely a boost of confidence for the players if not for a major one. Every game here on for them would be crucial and nothing less than 3 points would help the cause for Arsene Wenger.

Bolton have displayed some nice football off late. Klasnic, Petrov, Davies have all been good but they have failed to get results which is what is required for you to progress upfront. Staying on 19th position in the league, and of course seeing the poor form Gunners are in, they would surely go all guns blazing in this match. Whichever team scores first will have a major advantage in the game.

This game will be the match of the weekend for me. Lot of action and thrills to be seen for SURE 🙂

My Prediction: Arsenal to win in a high scoring game with just a goal more than Bolton.

Chelsea vs Swansea

Anyone who missed the Chelsea vs Manchester United game? Go watch the 90 mins. It had everything in it to be called an EPIC encounter. Chelsea’s 50 million striker Torres finally scored his second with some fantastic skills and on the other hand he missed a chance to score his second when he clearly skipped keeper De Gea and had an open net to score when his shot was wide. He even set up Ramires for a sitter which the latter missed. On the whole, he did play some brilliant football but in patches.

AVB has shown he has BALLS! Removing Lampard in the first half and getting in Anelka which had an instant impact. At 70 mins, Chelsea had 17 shots on target to that of 8 from Manchester United. AVB surely would have loved the way his team has adapted to the situation. Even after being a goal down in the early stages, Chelsea created many chances but failed to convert most of them. This is where Chelsea will looking to improve on. Against Fulham in the league cup, Chelsea fielded a young team resting many regular players and they again displayed some top notch football being a man down in the first half.

Swansea are on the other hand are high after putting 3 past the opposition net, they would want to get at least a point if not a win. They surely known, Stamford Bridge is a fortress and its next to impossible for a team of their stature.

My Prediction: 3-0 to Chelsea or even more.

Stoke City vs Manchester United

5 games 8 points and restricting Chelsea to  the 3 points. Yes, Stoke City under Tony Pulis have really played well. Some quality football overall and some outstanding results at home. This week they entertain the Champions Manchester United. Stoke have nothing to lose from this game. If they display the same quality football which they have till date this season, then surely a very outer chance for them to contain Manchester United. A goal in the beginning for Stoke would surely help the cause. It goes the other way round, then the game’s done and dusted 🙂

Manchester United – Absolutely no words to describe this team at the moment. The display of football such a young team is displaying is just amazing to watch. They are a real threat to any opposition be it in the league or in European competition. Last week against Chelsea in spite of creating so less chances than Chelsea they converted the ones which they created. That is what a Champion team possesses. The way they counter is one of the deadliest things which none of the other teams have in the premier league at present. Even with the likes of Vidic and Ferdinand out, Jones and Evans are doing a fantastic job. De Gea who has had a nervy start is definitely settling down and one could see last weekend about how he managed to keep the Chelsea forwards from scoring.Kudos.

It’s just a question now about who will stop this brutal run they are having this season. Will Stoke manage to hold the likes of Young, Rooney, Nani? I don’t see that happening but would love to see it happening 😛

My Prediction: 3-1 to the Champions

I won’t be catch up with this week due to a splendid party at Goa 🙂 But would keep try to keep myself updated with what’s happening in the world of football. Nothing like a game of football.

Enjoy the weekend as I do in GOA 🙂 Until next weekend.

Cheers
Muki
