Downward Spiral – A Poem by Trishaala Bahl

I know I shouldn’t,
But the lure is too enticing,
Stop myself, I couldn’t,
Life is so agonizing.

The same mistakes again,
The same guilt every time,
My mind I should train,
But it chooses to remain blind.

Perfection eludes my grasp,
Confusion and chaos reign,
Destruction delivered with every task,
Another blot on my record, another stain.

The darkness calls to me,
With it a simpler life awaits,
But conscience restrains my freedom,
Protects me from Hell’s gates.
