In what may come as relief to over 5000 students at MIT Manipal, the Udupi District MLA has asked the local buses lobby to prepare a schedule of buses to run inside the MIT, Manipal campus from May 1st of this year. The move comes almost two years after college bus service was stopped inside the campus following a very unfortunate accident.
ManipalBlog.com had previously updated photographs of private buses being run inside the Manipal University Health campus and some of the MIT students had commented that this is how transportation should be. We have now learnt that the buses inside the Health campus were just a part of the trial to see if it was feasible to run the same in the Engineering campus.
We have reliably learnt from sources that the new bus service will mainly be available during peak class hours and will ply from the MIT bus stand next to WelcomGroup School of Hotel Administration to VenuGopal Temple and back to MIT Bus stand via Tiger Circle, as well as in opposite direction.
There is reliable information as well that MIT Management may reintroduce College buses as well from May so that students do not have to suffer in the Summer heat and during the rains. However, they are waiting to see how the local buses operate before taking a stand on the issue.
