The Immortals of Meluha

I saw someone reading what looked like a really interesting book in the clinics.  On further queries I found out that it was the first part of the series “Shiva Trilogy” by Amish.  I’ve always been fascinated by mythology.  Indian mythology is fantastic, at par with Greek and Roman Mythology.

Ordered the first two of the series “The Immortals of Meluha” and “The Secret of the Nagas” from FlipKart.com.  The 3rd hasn’t come out as of yet.

What exactly is it?  It’s an interesting twist of the tale of Lord Shiva.  It portrays him (and everyone else that comes in the Mythology with him, Parvati, Ganesh, Parshuram etc) as mortal humans who because of their deeds became more than just mere.  In the book Shiva is a Nomad from Mount Kailash, Tibet  who travels to the Suryavanshi land of the Meluha.  The book starts with him leading the Meluhan’s in the first part to the secret of the Nagas in the 2nd.  It is an insight into a man realizing his Karma and fate.  Dealing with his demons and rising up to his name of Mahadev.

Both of the books are spellbinding from the first page to the nail-biting climax which makes you wish the next one was within your grasp immediately.  Amish narrates the story in such a way that you can feel the aura of the characters, their emotions come alive.  He describes the locations such that without any effort you are transported into the book and feel as if you’ve got eyes that are seeing everything as it transcribes.  The plot is smooth and fast paced through out.  There is no loose ends anywhere, everything ties up to form a pattern.  A must read for anyone interested in mythology or fiction.

You can check ShivaTrilogy for more info.  To top it off check out the trailer!! for the Book!
